All of us at Daubenmire Agency sincerely hope you are doing well during this time and we know the changes and sacrifices you are making in your everyday lives have been difficult. Although this is not behind us yet, we are starting to hear news that our efforts are making a difference and there is cause for optimism as long as we continue to do what has worked so far.
As we approach the end of our third week under the stay at home order, we want you to know we will continue to be here to service your needs and remain open for business. We especially want to thank all of you for continuing to support our agency and trusting us to be your agency throughout all this.
There are several changes that have taken place with our insurance carriers as a result of the COVID-19 threat that we want all of you to be aware of:
1) Moratorium on Cancellations and Non-Renewals: Insurance companies in Ohio have announced a temporary suspension on cancellations and non-renewals of policies for non-payment of premium. This action will give our clients additional time to make their current payment without the fear of cancellation or late fees. Most insurance companies have enacted this change through a good portion of May and could extended it if the crisis continues. If you have been affected in any way and are unable to make your current premium payments, please contact us for details on your particular billing situation.
2) Food and Grocery Delivery: As a result of the pandemic and stay at home orders, our traditional food distribution channels have been drastically changed. We are seeing restaurants and grocery stores now offering delivery and having their employees use their own personal vehicles for delivery. Food delivery for hire is something that is excluded from coverage under a personal auto policy but several of our carriers have temporarily lifted that exclusion to accommodate the current situation. Again, this is a temporary measure and not every carrier is offering this. If you or any driver on your policy is delivering food or groceries, please contact us so we may review your particular policy.
3) Auto Premium Refund: This last week we saw a growing number of insurance companies announce some form of refund on auto policies as a result of the limited driving being done during the stay at home order. The majority of our companies are doing this as well and the refund will be based on a percentage of your monthly premium for the months of April and/or May. This is something that will be done automatically and you do not need to initiate it or request it.
